BARANGAY Ginebra star Mark Caguioa started the new year by granting an ailing fan's wish.
The former PBA MVP drove all the way to Batangas to visit a certain Papa Gani, a diehard Ginebra fan whom according to her daughter, is in his final days due to chronic and heart failure.
Spin.ph was able to reach Rachel Ann Reglos-Lim, who confirmed Caguioa's visit to his dad but declined to speak lengthily about it. It was Rachel Ann who took to Twitter and Facebook to air her dad's fervent wish, in the hope that it would reach the Ginebra star.
Rachel Ann only expressed her gratitude to Caguioa.
“Wala po kaming ibang intensyon sa ginawa ni Mark Caguioa maliban sa mapasaya ang father ko," said Rachel Ann, who revealed that the Ginebra star sent a video to her dad through her prior to the visit.
"Sapat na po ‘yun sa amin na nag-video message siya kay Papa at surpresang nagpunta siya dito sa amin. Malaking pasasalamat po ‘yun para sa amin. Sana ay nauunawaan niyo kami,” Reglos-Lim told Spin.ph.
Reglos-Lim posted a heartfelt tweet ast December 28 to air her request for Caguioa to visit her father, who she said is an avid Barangay Ginebra fan even during the days of playing-coach Robert Jaworski.
“Dear @officialMC47, Our family is an avid and solid fan of Brgy. Ginebra. Most specially my father. He sees to it that whenever you have a game, he’ll watch it! He likes the way you move and the ‘Spark’ that you have.
“He idolizes you that much and the rest of Ginebra team even during the time of Sir Robert Jaworski. Actually I do not know how to say this but my father is on his last days due to chronic kidney and heart failure. He kept on saying that he wants to meet you as his last wish.
“I am just striking my luck if you could read this one for the happiness of my father for the last time. I want to show him that nothing is impossible when you strive for what you want to achieve. Me and my family will do everything to please him until his last breath. Thank you and more power to #NeverSayDie.”
The message did reached Caguioa who, with the help of Reglos-Lim’s friends, was able to shoot a video of the Ginebra cager sending his message for Papa Gani.
But Caguioa wasn’t done.

According to Reglos-Lim’s post on Facebook, the Ginebra star personally saw Papa Gani at their Batangas home.
