ANTIPOLO – Barangay Ginebra broke its slump on Saturday after beating Columbian, 97-85, in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center.

Greg Slaughter had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Gin Kings, who ended their two-game skid to improve their record to 2-2.

CJ Perez had a game-high 25 points but the Dyip suffered their second consecutive loss to fall to 2-3.

Ginebra coach Tim Cone said the team is still far from the form he wants the Kings to be.

“We played better but not great,” Cone said. “We need to get to great if we want to be contenders this conference.”

Slaughter scored eight points in the second quarter, the same period where the Gin Kings posted a 10-0 run to take a 55-44 halftime lead which they protected until the end. The Kings led by as many as 20 points.

Joe Devance had 15 points, while Kevin Ferrer added 13 points. Japeth Aguilar added 11 points but missed the entire second half after sustaining a sprained ankle.
