BARANGAY Ginebra trounced Blackwater, 85-67, on Saturday to win its second consecutive game in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Davao Del Sur Coliseum in Digos City.
Digos City native Scottie Thompson played in front of his hometown fans and had 16 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists in the victory as the Gin Kings won in lopsided fashion.
Kevin Ferrer scored eight of his 14 points in a pivotal 16-2 run to cap the first quarter as the Gin Kings carded their third win in five outings as they now head to a long break for the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers.
Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter had 20 and 17 points each for the Kings, who took a 22-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
The Elite, who trailed by as many as 24 points in the out-of-town contest, have lost three straight games are now at 1-5.
Joseph Eriobu had his best game as an Elite as he scored 14 points and eight rebounds, while Mike DiGregorio also had 14 points for Blackwater. Abu Tratter added 13 points, seven rebounds, and five steals.
