BARANGAY Ginebra ousted a hard-luck Magnolia Chicken Timplados side, 99-84, in Game Four on Wednesday to book its place in the 2022-2023 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The Gin Kings turned the match into a rout late in the second quarter behind a run sparked by LA Tenorio and never once let up to overwhelmingly close the ‘Manila Clasico’ best-of-five semifinal series, 3-1.

Justin Brownlee and Tenorio set the tone for the rout while Japeth Aguilar put together his best performance in the conference yet as Ginebra booked a place in the best-of-seven finals against either Bay Area or San Miguel.

One thing for sure though is that Barangay Ginebra will be playing on Christmas Day for Game One of the finals.

Ginebra also survived the early ejection of Christian Standhardinger after throwing the ball at Nick Rakocevic during the first quarter.

“I was thinking that I’m just so thankful we don’t have to play Game Five against this team,” said Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone.

Brownlee tallied 24 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists, while Aguilar had eight of his 19 points in the third for his best scoring effort this conference.

Tenorio added 18 points and continued his hot shooting with his 4-of-8 shooting from threes.

The Hotshots ended their conference after dropping their last two games despite being the second seed in the playoffs.

After missing all but two minutes of Game Three due to an illness, Paul Lee had nine points in 26 minutes of play, hitting just two of his eight shots from the field.

Calvin Abueva had 14 points, while Rakocevic added 13 points and 13 rebounds in a game where the Hotshots trailed by as many as 24 points, 71-47.

    The scores:

    Barangay Ginebra 99 – Brownlee 24, J. Aguilar 19, Tenorio 18, Thompson 14, Malonzo 10, Pringle 5, Gray 3, Pinto 3, Mariano 2, Standhardinger 1, Pessumal 0, David 0, R. Aguilar 0.
