BARAKO Bull guard Willie Miller is bracing for a tough rematch against Talk ‘N Text, this time in the quarterfinals of the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Energy lost to the Alaska Aces, 87-90, on Sunday night that sealed their position as the No. 8 team in the playoffs that set up another meeting with top seed and twice-to-beat Talk ‘N Text.
The Tropang Texters sealed their place as the top team in the playoffs after overcoming Barangay Ginebra, 96-92, in Sunday’s main game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Miller welcomed the development, but is well aware it will be an uphill climb whichever team they would face.
“Kahit sino kalaban naman, pare-pareho malakas,” Miller admitted. “Basta playoffs naman, kung sino kalaban mo, yung ang kailangan mo talunin eh.”
At least the Energy had the Texters’ number in the elimination as the underdogs stunned the powerhouse side, 88-74, behind import Allen Durham’s 28-point, 29-rebound performance last week.
“We know they’re going to adjust from our last game,” Miller said. “We have to expect 'yung mga unexpected.”
Miller pointed to the Aces’ “special” defense on Durham, who they limited to 17 points and 22 boards - a ploy the Tropang Texters could now use.
“It depends sa amin kung magiging ready kami sa first half pa lang or anything na i-throw nila sa amin. Basta we have to adjust right away,” said Miller, who had an all-around game spiked with 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 33 minutes against the Aces.
