KAI Ballungay and Mark Nonoy were last-minute entries on the final day of application for the PBA rookie draft.
The two beat the Thursday deadline imposed by the league for all players interested to join the draft to file their applications.
The league though, have yet to make an official list on the total number of applicants for the Season 49 proceedings as of posting time.
Ballungay and Nonoy applied for the draft bearing credentials stuffed with championship experience.
The 6-foot-6 Ballungay was a major piece in Ateneo regaining the UAAP men’s basketball championship in Season 85 after exacting pay back against previous season tormentor University of the Philippines.
He played two seasons for the Katipunan-based program before opting to leave the Blue Eagles’ nest before the end of 2023 and set his sights of turning pro.

Nonoy initially made a known for himself as the chief playmaker for University of Santo Tomas under then head coach Aldin Ayo, but wouldn’t win his first UAAP title until last year while donning the La Salle Green Archers jersey under head coach Topex Robinson.
Also applying for the draft are Jared Brown also of Ateneo and Fil-Canadian David Penney of University of the East.
Brown played alongside Ballungay at Ateneo, but only saw action for just a season before deciding to leave the Blue Eagles and play pro ball.
