DESPITE his current status as Alaska’s top gun, Cyrus Baguio doesn’t consider himself a superstar.
Ever humble, the pride of Iligan city told Spin.ph that up to now he maintained the role-player mentality first instilled in him by his former coach Yeng Guiao back when they were still together at Red Bull.
“Superstar? Para sa akin, pantay-pantay lang kami lahat,” said Baguio, the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the period covering February 25 to March 3.

Baguio also stressed that at Alaska, everybody is a superstar. “Tulung-tulungan talaga kami, first group, second group, o third group. Yun ang kagandahan sa team ngayon, tulungan,” he added.
Now on his 10th year in the league, Baguio reiterated that winning the PBA’s highest individual award is farthest from his mind, even though he’s considered among the most skilled backcourt players in the league today.
Mas importante sa akin yung championship, mag-champion kami,” the 32-year-old Baguio said.
Besides, Baguio said Alaska has a new battle cry in `There’s no I in we, no I in team.”
At the same time, he’s very much contented with the way young coach Luigi Trillo has been running the team, which remains unbeaten five games into its Commissioner’s Cup campaign.
Behind the best start the Aces had so far in the post-Tim Cone era, Baguio is optimistic of reaching the goals set by the team.
“Hindi namin tinitignan `yung standing namin, aim naming malampasan yung narating namin last conference,” he said of Alaska’s semifinal stint against eventual champion Talk `N Text. “Medyo kinapos kami sa semis.
“Goal talaga namin pumasok ulit sa semis, and hopefully mag-finals.”
