    Breaking new ground: PBA holds MOA game

    B-MEG and Talk ‘N Text are taking their blockbuster act to the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

    The Lllamados and Tropang Texters renew their rivalry in the Governors Cup semifinal when they clash this Saturday in the first PBA game to be played at the newly-built coliseum by the bay under the SM Group of Companies.

    Game time is set at 8 p.m. as per the official schedule released by the league yesterday.

    The timing is perfect. Only the other day, the league announced TV ratings for the last Commissioner’s Cup hititng an eight-year high in terms of audience share.

    The import-laden tournament was capped by the epic Game Seven between B-Meg and Talk `N Text, which the Llamados won in overtime, 90-84, behind the heroics of import Denzel Bowles and two-time MVP James Yap.

     The semifinals start on Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo with Barangay Ginebra taking on the sixth semifinalist, which could be Powerade, Barako Bull, and Meralco. The second game will have have top seed Rain or Shine battling the defending champion Petron Blaze.

    On Sunday, it will be back at the Araneta Coliseum in a special doubleheader highlighted by the official retirement ceremony for cage great Robert Jaworski. The main game will see Barangay Ginebra clashing with sister-team Petron, while Rain or Shine meets the No.6 qualifier in the curtain-raiser.

    Wednesday matches will see Talk `N Text going up against the No. 6 team, and B-Meg fighting Petron in the main event also at the Big Dome. The following day, it’s Ginebra against Rain or Shine in a lone match up at the Araneta Coliseum.

    Completing the schedule - all of them to be played at the Big Dome – are the No. 6 team versus B-Meg, and Talk `N Text versus Petron on Friday, and B-Meg opposite Ginebra, and Rain or Shine against Talk `N Text on Sunday.

    The UAAP’s 75th season also begins play on July 14 at the MOA Arena with the start of the men’s basketball competitions.
