Marqus Blakely led a well-balanced B-Meg offense in a 91-78 victory over an Air21 side leaning on a lone star in Zach Graham on Saturday in a PBA Governors Cup road game at the Davao del Sur Coliseum in Digos City.
Blakely came up with 21 points and three locals delivered double-digit scores as the Llamados overcame Graham’s 39-point night to take a share of the lead with Rain or Shine at 4-1 (win-loss).
“Graham is a great import. At halftime, I told the guys we’ve got to wear him down. Maybe in the third or fourth quarter, he’ll get tired, and he did,” said B-Meg coach Tim Cone.
Petron Blaze and Powerade share third place at 3-2.
Josh Urbiztondo scored 17 points, James Yap 16 and Reavis 10 for B-Meg. Marc Pingris chipped in seven points, which was all Elmer Espiritu could muster for the Express.
The Express actually led at the half where Graham dropped 22 points and Wynne Arboleda, moved by the Barako Bull to Air21, hit consecutive triples for his only baskets of the game.
B-Meg, however, played steadier down the stretch and pushed Air21 down the cellar with Alaska Milk, Meralco and Talk n Text at 1-3.
Graham has scored at least 30 points in all four games with the Express.
