THE game already had a foregone conclusion, yet AZ Reid initially refused to go out before David Semerad finally replaced him a little over a minute remaining.

That said it all as the San Miguel Beer import led his team to a 115-83 pummeling of Blackwater on Tuesday that sustained their sizzling run in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

The ruthless Reid came away with 39 points 12 assists, and 10 rebounds, on top of one steal, one block before sat on the bench for good after just 38 minutes of playing time.

“I don’t ever want to come out,” the two-time Best Import awardee said. “I want to win. I want to destroy you; I don’t just want to beat you. If they had the same chance, they would want to destroy us.”

“My goal is to win each game by as much as possible,” he added. “It’s nothing personal. It’s just who I am.”

But Reid, who shot an efficient 12-of-23 from the field, including four three-point conversions, and 11-of-13 from the foul line, played down his triple-double effort.

“I’m not worrying about stat lines,” the dreadlock-haired American forward said. “I’m worried about the win. The win is the most important thing for our team.”

“I don’t have any individual goal,” he added. “I just have my eyes set on one thing.”

That is undoubtedly a championship as Reid is one of only two imports who have won multiple Best Import awards without winning a title.

Beermen coach Leo Austria lauded his ward for his sheer desire to win.

“I’m happy to see AZ na kahit decided na 'yung outcome, talagang ayaw niya pa rin magpalabas,” he said. “He was really after this win.”
