AZ Reid bared a little about himself and his future plans by answering a couple of trivia questions pertaining to the PBA, his stay in the country, and a second stint with San Miguel this season.
The two-time Best Import awardee was candid enough to say he’s not really fond of Filipino dishes, but said he is intrigued about eating balut or boiled duck embryo.
“I would like to try balut. I heard it’s the most difficult food to eat,” said the 30-year-old Reid in between laughs during the PBAFastChat just before the game between San Miguel and NLEX on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Asked who among the Beermen he is closest to, Reid said he’s close to everybody, although Fil-Am guard Chris Ross is really the one who he regularly hangs out with.
As for the local players who comes closest to him in terms of attitude and style of play, the native of South Carolina handpicked Ranidel de Ocampo of TnT Katropa and Alaska’s Calvin Abueva.
“I like Ranidel De Ocampo’s play. He’s smart, he can shoot, he can penetrate,” he stressed. “I also like (Calvin) Abueva, his attitude, his cockiness in a good way, and he plays hard and very tough.”
For his pre-game ritual, Reid disclosed always eating chicken inasal.
“And I always pray before the game, just focus and get my mind, body and, soul ready for the game.”
When his playing days are over, Reid sees himself delving into coaching, perhaps with San Miguel - paging Beermen management.
“After basketball, I plan to open up a gymnasium for future basketball players,” he said. “I wanna coach and be a trainer. Hopefully I can stay here and be a coach for SMB.”
