SAN Miguel coach Leo Austria declined to comment on reports the PBA powerhouse is looking to acquire Terrence Romeo via trade with TNT.
On Sunday, San Miguel made only one act in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft when it selected former Adamson guard Ryan Monteclaro with the 11th pick in the third round. But the Beermen made biggest pre-draft noise with news of their interest in Romeo.
According to sources, the enigmatic guard has been put on the trading block by TNT KaTropa after going AWOL the past weeks.
“Wala akong comment regarding diyan hangga’t hindi pa nafa-finalize ‘yung kung ano man ‘yung naririnig niyo. Let’s see what will happen in the next few days. As of now, wala akong mako-comment,” Austria told reporters after the PBA draft.
However, Austria said any coach will want to have Romeo in his team.
“Si Terrence naman, alam natin especially nung naglaro siya sa Gilas. He is one of the most admired players in Gilas at that time. Lahat naman puwede magbago. With his talent, hindi mawawala sa kanya ‘yun.
“Any team naman nangagailangan ng katulad ng talent niya. But I think, kung mapupunta sa amin ‘yun, I don’t know yet. Pero wala pa akong mabibigay na mako-confirm sa inyo kung ano man ‘yun.
"Along the way, makikita mo kung para sa amin talaga o hindi,” said Austria.
