GINEBRA’s much-hyped run-and-gun game will be tested right on opening night of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup as the Kings battle the Meralco Bolts on January 27 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Gin Kings management handed Jeffrey Cariaso the pink slip during the holiday break, putting an end to two conferences of struggles with the triangle offense.
Ato Agustin was reinstated as head coach and immediately made known that an up-tempo game will be used to maximize the talent of veteran guards led by Joseph Yeo, LA Tenorio, Chris Ellis and Mark Caguioa.

The much talked about Ginebra playing style will be tested by the Meralco team that made some noise in the Philippine Cup by upending Purefoods Star’s championship reign in the first phase of the quarterfinals.
The match is set at 7 p.m.
Ginebra and Meralco have yet to make an official announcement about their respective imports for the mid-season conference as of posting time.
Meantime, KIA Motors is hopeful that playing coach Manny Pacquiao’s more active role on the bench can spell a winning campaign with 7-3 Puerto Rican Peter John Ramos serving as the Sorento’s import when they kick-off the mid-season import conference against GlobalPort.
KIA won only one game in its maiden PBA conference, an 80-66 triumph over fellow expansion team Blackwater in the season-opener last October, before closing the tournament with 10 straight losses.
Blackwater won a friendly over Kia, with the Elite import Chris Charles sitting out and Sorento reinforcement Peter John Ramos playing just a few minutes.
