JOSEPH Yeo may no longer feel wanted in his current team, but there is one ballclub where he is certainly most welcome.
NLEX center Asi Taulava made that known on Tuesday, saying he is very much looking forward to his former Air21 teammate should he be released by GlobalPort.
The high-scoring former De La Salle star is currently at the center of trade speculations after GlobalPort Mikee Romero expressed his regret in signing Yeo in an obvious Facebook blind item last week.
Taulava made his feelings known in an Instagram post on Tuesday, posting a picture of him and Yeo during their time together at Air21 with the message: “If u dont want my brotha Da Ninja. Turn him lose n let him come home to his family!#OnceFambamAlwaysFambam.”
He was more straight-forward when Spin.ph talked to him about Yeo's situation.
“I feel bad, you know how I love my former teammate and I am hurt to see him get blasted like that. That’s totally uncalled for,” he said. “I just wanted to show support for Joseph. I am with Joseph, I am here for him, if they don’t want him, they should release him.
“If they don’t want the guy, if he thinks he no longer has value to their system, release the guy and let him find some other team to play. If you talk bad about him, just let him go,” added the 2003 PBA MVP.
The outspoken league veteran said he'd relish a reunion with 'The Ninja.'
“Let the Ninja and Ageless play (together again). We know how to use him, hell yeah, reunite us,” said the 43 year old evergreen slotman. “I will welcome him with open arms, and most of my our former teammates at Air 21 are waiting for him to come home, they are in full support of Joseph.”
“I miss playing with Joseph and I believe he still is one of the best shooting guards in the league today, he is unstoppable when you utilize him and know his strengths,” he said.
Asked if he has already pushed the management of NLEX to make a move to get Yeo, Taulava replied: “I am asking GlobalPort, I am telling them, if they don’t want him, release him, let him come home!”
“It’s (the release of Yeo) easier said than done, they’re saying all these right now and then afterwards they’ll gonna demand for something else (in exchange)?” he said.
“They’ll not being realistic, you said you have no use of the guy and everything, but why don’t they just waive him, we can pick him up,” Taulava added.
Even former Air21 import Wesley Witherspoon showed support for Yeo by commenting on Taulava’s post: “WE SHOOK THE PBA UP THAT YEAR BRO.”
