A CCTV footage of the bar fight involving Terrence Romeo's group emerged on Thursday as the PBA star moved to play down his role in the scuffle.
A video provided to SPIN.ph by a source showed Romeo talking to someone inside a Quezon City bar when he was approached from behind by a fellow bar patron.
Sources close to Romeo who claim to be at the scene told SPIN.ph the TNT guard was surprised when he was 'grabbed from behind' by the man.
However, the same sources said Romeo's group had no participation in the fight, saying 'bystanders' were the ones who punched the man in the ensuing commotion.
"As you can see he was talking to (Brian) Heruela and was grabbed to his surprise. A fan/bystander was the one who beat the guy while Terrence was pushed aside," said a source who asked not to be named,
Romeo pointed to the CCTV as the main evidence when he emerged from Quezon City Police Station 10 on Thursday morning where he and his group were taken for questioning.
He later fired a tweet playing down the incident.
“I'm in my house right now. I’m not held up in any prison or station. No need to make a fuss,” the Gilas Pilipinas mainstay wrote on his Twitter page. "Watch the cctv i believe its somewhere in social media right now.I didnt do anything.Let the video speak for itself.Anyway both camps are okay naman na. Goodnight."
At the station, a woman who claimed to be the wife of one member of the rival group said they already got a picture with the PBA player and were preparing to leave when the commotion ensued.
The woman said it was not Romeo but one of his companions who punched his husband.
The warring groups were brought to QCPD Station 10 by responding policemen and were allowed to leave at dawn with no charges filed by neither camp.
