REIGNING PBA Most Valuable Player Arwind Santos asserts there’s no more room for error as Petron and San Mig Coffee tangle in a no-tomorrow Game Seven for the Governors’ Cup championship.
“Itong Game Seven pukpukan na ito. Ang bumigay talo,” said the lanky 32-year-old forward after the Boosters forced the winner-take-all showdown after their 99-88 win over the Mixers in Game 6 Wednesday night.
“Kaya gagawin namin lahat at hahakutin namin lahat ng lakas at kaalaman namin sa basketball para manalo.”
The 6-foot-4 Santos himself bounced back from two straight sub-par performance in the Finals following a solid game of 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists in the victory that levelled the best-of-seven series at 3-3.
Three days after breaking down to tears for his failure to deliver when it mattered most for Petron, the former Far Eastern University stalwart played with more fire and combined with import Elijah Millsap, Marcio Lassiter, June Mar Fajardo, and Alex Cabagnot in extending the series to a rubber-match.
At the end of the game, Santos took time to thank Petron management, his teammates, the fans and his supporters for lifting his spirits during his down moment.
“Sa lahat ng mga fans, sa management, sa teammates ko, at sa mga kaibigan ko na sumuporta sa akin, maraming salamat. Natutuwa ako dahil hindi ako nag-iisa at maraming nagmamahal sa akin,” said Santos, who was also named Best Player of the Conference.
