ARWIND Santos pointed to a “shadow” that made it tougher for San Miguel Beer to defend Ginebra in its 95-87 loss in Game Three of their PBA Philippine Cup semifinals on Tuesday night.
Asked what went wrong in the loss that reduced their lead in the best-of-seven series to 2-1, the SMB star forward refused to pin the blame on anything but 'shadows' that he said made it harder for them to defend the Gin Kings.
“What went wrong? Medyo ano eh... May mga shadow eh... Parang may mga shadow yung mga players kanina eh. Parang yung lima nagiging walo,” Santos said. “Parang ganun eh.
Still, the former league MVP said he was glad SMB almost turned the game around in the end.
“Talagang na-muntik pa,” he said. “Kung nakaswerte lang din. Naka-shoot ng three-points si ano (Caperal) so medyo lumayo sila ano? Sayang.
Santos scored 13 points on 1-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc to go with six boards, two assists, and two steals in almost 36 minutes, shaking his head and smiling while being booed by Ginebra fans every time he touched the ball.
Santos, who had an 'asaran' with a heckler in Game Two, insisted there was no such thing this time.
“Ako? Hindi kaya. Never,” Santos said. “Never ako mapipikon ng fans, Maniwala kayo.
Kailangan makuha namin yun.”
