ARWIND Santos offered his game-winning exploit in San Miguel Beer’s 106-105 win over Barako Bull on Sunday to his mother, Araceli, who is an intensive care unit (ICU) at St. Luke’s, recovering from a respiratory problem.
The SMB star put back Marcio’s Lassiter’s miss at the buzzer that allowed the Beermen to escape with their fifth win in six games.
“Siguro yung tirang 'yun baka 'yun 'yung dasal ng mama ko, tsaka 'yun 'yung shot na pwedeng makapagpasaya kay mama, para kahit papano mag-improve yung kalagayan niya ngayon,” said Santos, who rushed to the hospital to attend to his ailing mother. “Alam ko ngayon masaya siya kasi nanonood siya.”
The elder Santos has been in the ICU for five days.
“Paganda nang paganda yung improvement. Sana magtuluy-tuloy na,” said Arwind, who finished with 15 points, six boards, three assists, and three blocks in 33 minutes despite nursing a hamstring injury.
“Sabi ko nga lahat ng game naming natitira ngayon, sa nangyari sa kanya (mother), lahat ng game para sa kanya.”
