NO suspension were handed out on Arwind Santos and Anthony Semerad, but the two were fined by the PBA for figuring in a fracas that led to their ejection during the San Miguel-TnT Katropa Commissioner’s Cup game.
Santos was slapped with P20,000 fine, while Semerad also P20,000 after the two were ejected at the 7:36 mark of the fourth period and the score tied at 83 for being whistled each with a flagrant foul penalty 2 infraction.
Also penalized with the same amount was TnT’s Don Trollano, who was caught on video hitting Santos but wasn’t called by game officials.
The three appeared before the Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday to explain their sides on the incident.
Santos was accompanied by San Miguel utility Edwin Cortez when he had an audience with Commissioner Willie Marcial, before Semerad and Trollano followed with team manager Virgil Villavicencio.
Commissioner Willie Marcial handed out the fines after consulting with the league’s technical officials.
Not summoned but also facing possible fines are TnT’s Terrence Romeo and Marcio Lassiter of San Miguel.
The two gunners were banished from the game won by San Miguel, 99-94, after incurring two technical fouls for taunting and taking a fighting stance against each other during the second quarter.
Santos and Semerad meanwhile, got entangle during a rebound play and fell to the floor together, leading to a physical play that saw the two hitting each other on the head.
Also fined worth P5,000 was NLEX big man Michael Miranda for the flagrant foul penalty 1 he committed against Barangay Ginebra import Justine Brownlee during the two teams' Petron Saturday Special game in Legazpi, Albay two weeks ago.
