Arwind flagrant foul 2 on Scottie downgraded after review
    Jul 31, 2018

THE PBA has downgraded the flagrant foul penalty 2 called on Arwind Santos in Game Two of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals against Ginebra, but the controversial San Miguel didn’t escape a penalty for the incident.

Santos was fined P5,000 for the hit on Ginebra guard Scottie Thompson in the second half of the Beermen’s 134-109 win over the Kings, even if the foul was downgraded to a flagrant foul penalty one after a review.

A flagrant foul 2, if confirmed, could've meant a bigger penalty - and possibly a suspension - for the former league MVP, who protested the referees' decision immediately after his ejection.

Also fined P5,000 was San Miguel import Renaldo Balkman for a flagrant foul penalty one that also occurred in the Beermen's Game Two victory that evened the best-of-seven championship series to 1-all.

Chris Ross of San Miguel and Kevin Ferrer and Joe Devance of Ginebra were also fined by the league for separate incidents.

Ross was fined P2,600 after being slapped with two technical fouls that also led to an ejection in the match, while Ferrer and Devance were penalized P1,000 each for a second motion infractions during Game Two.
