ARVIN Tolentino is ready to take the mantle of leadership at Northport.
And the 6-foot-5 forward made that bold statement when he dropped 41 points in the Batang Pier’s 105-86 rout of Phoenix Fuel Masters on Friday in the PBA On Tour at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Tolentino found his range in the second half when he torched the opposition for 27 points on the way to a new career high.

He went 7-of-11 from three-point range and added five rebounds, and two assists in a testament to his willingness to be the team’s new go-to-guy following the departure of star guard Robert Bolick for the Japan B.League.
“Flattered. Siyempre Robert Bolick yun, mahirap talagang pantayan 'yun,” said Tolentino.
Tolentino said he's more than willing to embrace the challenge if that’s what it would take for Northport to win.
“Of course, it’s a challenge for me. A little bit of pressure and a big responsibility also,” he said. “But I love those things. Yung pressure, yung may responsibilidad. Mas masarap maglaro kapag may ganun.”
Tolentino however, stressed it’s not all about one man for the Batang Pier, saying he makes it a point to involve everybody.
“Maganda yung nilaro namin as a team. Nasakto lang siguro na ako yung pinaka-maganda,” he said. “Overall, it’s a great team game for us.”
