BOCAUE -- Ginebra is set to welcome another key cog to the squad with Art dela Cruz set to make his season debut next Sunday against San Miguel.
The fourth-year winger sat out the Gin Kings' 90-79 opening day win over TNT at Philippine Arena on Sunday, but disclosed that he's already cleared for action after suffering from a strained hamstring this past week.
"Lalaro na ako sa Sunday," he told SPIN.ph in a short chat as he made his way out of the cavernous venue.
Dela Cruz's arrival will be a welcome addition to Ginebra's wing rotation, which heavily relied on Kevin Ferrer, Aljon Mariano, and Joe Devance who is still groping for form.
The timing couldn't get any better as the crowd favorites try to go 2-0 at the expense of the Beermen, the reigning four-time Philippine Cup champions.
However, other key cogs remain out for the foreseeable future for the Gin Kings.
Jeff Chan will miss two more weeks as he recovers from the removal of bone spurs on his left knee, while Julian Sargent continues his rehabilitation from his shoulder surgery that will keep him out of action for two weeks minimum.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone, though, couldn't be more pleased with how his team has adapted to its needs with some of his wards still at injury bay.
"The versatility of our team is a weapon for the coaching staff and we're happy that we're able to get through the game with it," he said.
