THE mother of San Miguel Beer star Arwind Santos was rush out of the Smart Araneta Coliseum by the PBA medical team after suffering from profuse nose bleeding while watching the Commissioner’s Cup game between the Beermen and the Talk N Text Tropang Texters on Wednesday night.
The game was stopped for close to 10 minutes as medical personnel attended to Arwind's mother, Araceli Santos, who is a regular fixture in the stands during San Miguel Beer games.
Talk ‘N Text was ahead, 76-58, with more than five minutes to go in the third period when the incident happened.
Ivette Santos, wife of the former league MVP, helped facilitate the swift exit of her mother-in-law from the Big Dome.
Santos’ mother had to be carried out in a stretcher to a waiting ambulance, which brought her to the World Citi Medical Center in Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City.
“Medyo malayo kasi kami sa kanya, so pag tingin namin, dumudugo na yung ilong niya. Kasi may asthma si mama,” Ivette narrated.
“Nag-hyperventilate siguro kaya di siya makahinga.”
Santos’ wife said her mother-in-law has no history of high blood or heart problem.
In the meantime, Santos left the game prematurely early in the fourth period with the Beermen already behind by as many as 20 points to attend to her mother.
He left the game with seven points and five rebounds.
