DAVAO –Pressed for time, the Mindanao All-Stars skipped practice and just settled for a shootaround on the morning of the PBA All-Star game against Gilas Pilipinas on Wednesday night at the Davao del Sur Coliseum in Digos City.
But they made sure to allot time for another important segment of the first leg of the All-Star week: the dance-off against the national team before the game.
With the help of a choreographer and friend of Scottie Thompson, the Mindanao-based standouts busted out their dance moves at a function room on the second floor of Marco Polo Hotel hours before facing off against Gilas.
Poy Erram, the tallest in the squad at 6-8, naturally stood out as at the back of the formation during practice.
“Nakakatawa lang, ine-enjoy lang namin,” the Elite star center said.
“Pero seryoso naman sila lahat, kasi yun yung maganda na kahit sa sayaw, competitive pa rin kami; gusto namin manalo,” the Cagayan de Oro native was quick to add.
Erram is just soaking every moment in his first All-Star experience, voted in by the coaches thanks to having the best season of his career, highlighted by his inclusion in the Best Player of the Conference race in the Philippine Cup.
“Thankful ako dun sa mga taong nag-vote and sa mga coaches din na nag-recognize na kahit papaano, nakasama ako,” the 28-year-old cager said.
“Ang nilo-look forward ko is yung marami akong matututunan sa mga nakikita ko sa mga naging kalaban ko, teammates ko sila ngayon,” he added. “I’m looking forward to learn from them.”
