CHICAGO - Fresh from his championship stint with the UP Fighting Maroons in the Season 87 of the UAAP, Quentin Millora-Brown is predictably becoming a hot commodity.

The 6-foot-10, 265-pound center, who averaged 14 points, 9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the three-game finals series, is getting offers to play overseas including the prestigious Japan B.League, multiple sources told SPIN.ph.

"We are considering a myriad of options and the PBA is certainly one of them," QMB's camp told SPIN.ph.

Millora-Brown is set to fly back to Virginia in the next couple of days for the holidays but he will be back in Manila in January.

The PBA is still an option, I am told. But salary can be a hindrance.

Even if he is taken among the Top 3 in the Rookie Draft, as expected, league rules dictate that the team which picks him can only pay the max contract of P450,000 a month for at least two years.

And that simply is way below QMB's market value.

Based on his size, skillset, and credentials - which include US NCAA Division 1 action plus a 'chip in the increasingly popular UAAP - QMB can easily command a minimum price tag of $25,000 a month in the international scene.

To put that in perspective, June Mar Fajardo is reportedly making P20 to P30 million a year in the PBA while the top FAsian imports in Japan make up to $60,000 a month. In time, QMB's pay scale will be in that province.

And here's another obstacle for the PBA.

Based on the current draft order, QMB is increasingly likely to fall on the lap of either Terrafirma or Blackwater, sorry franchises with a notorious history of losing.

Having already played for glamour programs such as Vanderbilt, Citadel and UP, it's a fair assumption for the gentle giant Fil-Am to would rather attach his name to a winning brand.

But stranger things have happened in basketball.

"Let's see how it goes in the next few weeks," QMB's camp added.
