CHICAGO - Bay Area import Andrew Nicholson will not play in today's (Friday's) Game Four of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, a source told SPIN.ph moments ago.

Andrew Nicholson status for Game 4

Apparently, the ankle injury sustained by Nicholson in the waning seconds of Ginebra's 89-82 Game 3 victory last Wednesday was bad enough to prohibit him from suiting up and performing at the Mall of Asia Arena.

"He will be on the roster. He won't dress," the source revealed.

This development bodes well for the Gin Kings, who are sitting on a 2-1 series lead in their best-of-seven championship showdown.

Nicholson, the 19th overall pick of the 2012 NBA draft who played for 285 games in the world's premier basketball league, was a thorn on Ginebra's side. With that obstacle removed, the Kings are posed to take a commanding 3-1 series advantage.

The 6-foot-10, 250-pound Nicholson is averaging 26.7 points and 17 rebounds through three Finals games. He shot 57.4 percent from the field (31-of-54) and 35 percent from three-point distance (7-of-20).
