AS PROOF of his value with San Miguel, big man Andreas Cahilig was signed to a new contract by the back-to-back PBA Philippine Cup champions.
The 6-foot-5 Cahilig agreed to a two-year deal with the very same team that acquired him in a blockbuster trade with Terrafirma almost two years ago.
The Filpino-Swedish proved his worth with the Beermen right away as he helped them regain the All-Filipino championship last year, and then did the same early this season when San Miguel retained its title by repeating over TNT in six games.

San Miguel team governor Robert Non and manager Gee Abanilla were present during the contract signing on Monday, while Cahilig was with agent Charlie Dy of VP Global Athlete and Artist Management.
The veteran slotman later posted on his Facebook account the appreciation he had for the San Miguel management.
"Big thanks to Boss Robert, Boss Gee, and Boss Alfrancis (Chua) for the chance to keep competing with SMB," said Cahilig, who likewise gave thanks to Dy for helping him out in his entire pro career.
Cahilig was a second round pick of Northport in the 2016 draft, but got his playing break while wearing the Terrafirma jersey.
It was during his six-year stint as a two-way player with the Dyip that San Miguel took notice of him.
Just before the Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup, Cahilig and Juami Tiongson were shipped by Terrafirma to San Miguel for the duo of Terrence Romeo and Vic Manuel.
Cahilig immediately became a part of San Miguel’s frontcourt rotation involving Mo Tautuaa, Rodney Brondial, JM Calma, and nine-time MVP June Mar Fajardo.
