JEO Ambohot is set to don the TNT Tropang 5G when the PBA Governors’ Cup resumes on Oct. 7.
The 6-foot-7 Ambohot was signed by the telecommunication franchise for the remainder of the season-ending conference after trying out with the team for almost a month.
The former Letran standout is an unrestricted free agent after being released by Titan Ultra prior to the season break along with Jerrick Balanza, and Damie Cuntapay.
Ambohot then tried out with the Tropang 5G and played his first game with the team in Saturday’s On Tour in Candon City, Ilocos Sur against Rain or Shine, which won the contest, 98-94.
A former Finals MVP in the NCAA, the 29-year-old forward was the no. 3 overall pick during the Season 47 draft by Converge – the first ever player drafted by the FiberXers in franchise history.
Unfortunately, his career didn’t pan out with Converge in the three years he played for the team that eventually, he was shipped out and traded to Titan Ultra.
But his stay with the Giant Risers proved to be even shorter as he lasted for just two conferences before he was released as a free agent.
