ALMOND Vosotros is back for TNT, and so are the Tropang Giga on top of the PBA 3x3.
PBA 3x3 news
Vosotros was his usual fiery form Friday, leading his team past a young, fighting Barangay Ginebra crew, 20-14, to clinch the Leg 2 championship of the Third Conference Season 2 at Robinsons Place Antipolo.
The league’s five-time scoring champion torched the Kings for 11 points as the telecommunication franchise claimed its sixth leg title for the season.
It was a victory worth another P100,000 for coach Mau Belen and his crew.
Vosotros sat out last week's opening leg as management gave him a breather after playing non-stop for five straight conferences.
But even without him, the Tropang Giga was competitive enough to advance in the semis, although they lost to eventual champion San Miguel Beermen, 21-17. In the battle for third, they went down against Cavitex Braves, 16-14.
With its top gun back in action, there's no way to go but up for TNT.
Ginebra received the consolation prize of P50,000 as it couldn't pull off the same magic it did in the quarterfinals when it edged Purefoods, 13-11, and in the semifinals when it ousted Cavitex, 21-15.
Former Perpetual Help star Kim Aurin finished with nine points to show the way for the Kings.
Earlier, Meralco turned back Cavitex, 20-17, to salvage third place and the prize money worth P30,000.
The scores:
Third place
Meralco (20) – Batino 7, Manday 6, Santos 4, Caduyac 3.
Cavitex (17) – Fajardo 6, Saldua 5, Magat 4, Napoles 2.
Finals
TNT (20) – Vosotros11, Flores 3, Exciminiano 3, Villegas 3.
Ginebra (14) – Aurin 9, Cu 3, Gumaru 2, Salcedo 0.
