ANTIPOLO CITY – Rain or Shine will have another round of meeting with troubled player Raymond Almazan next week, but this time with coach Caloy Garcia present.
A face-to-face meeting between Garcia and Almazan became necessary after the controversial big man told Rain or Shine management about his on-and-off relationship with his former college coach.
Almazan met with team governor Atty. Mamerto Mondragon for the first time on Friday since going ‘AWOL’ (absent without leave) with the franchise two weeks ago.
The 6-foot-8 center was accompanied by agent Danny Espiritu.
“Nag-usap na sila and sinabi bi Raymund yung hinaing niya,” said the veteran agent.
Mondragon, according to Espiritu, has also talked to Garcia to hear his side after reports came out pointing at him as the reason for Almazan’s disappearance.
“Para magkalinawan, paghaharapin na lang si coach Caloy and Raymond, magsabi sila kung ano yung mga hinaing, tapos hanapan ng solusyon,” said Espiritu.
But he admitted the ball is definitely in the court of Rain or Shine management.
“Siyempre sila ang magdedesisyon diyan,” he said, “So it all depends on how the meeting will go.”
Garcia left the Ynares Center here in a huff after the Elasto Painters were ambushed by Columbian Dyip, 100-84, on Friday night.
The loss was a big blow to the team’s playoffs bid as it fell to a 2-5 overall record and saw its two-game winning streak come to an end.
The Elasto Painters now need to sweep their remaining games against Meralco, Phoenix, San Miguel, and NLEX to have a shot at advancing to the quarterfinals of the season-ending conference.
