LUCENA - Meralco import Allen Durham felt fatigue caught up with him late in the 87-102 loss to Ginebra in the PBA Governors' Cup finals opener on Friday at the Quezon Convention Center here.
And it was understandable. Durham pretty much did everything for the misfiring Bolts with 27 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block.
Durham even dropped 12 markers in the third period when the Bolts showed signs of life by coming within six points before running out of gas in the endgame.
"I was, (tired), a little bit. Like I had to get my second wind," he said.
But he's not one to make excuses, saying the Gin Kings simply played stellar on both ends from start to finish at the start of their finals grudge match.
"They just came out the better team tonight. We didn't shoot the ball well at all," he said. "You cant beat a team like Ginebra and not shoot the ball well. We were just kinda lazy. We didn't play our game well tonight."
Durham is hoping the Bolts will play with more energy in Game Two on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"We just gonna try to make the necessary corrections and get ready for Sunday," he said.
