STA. ROSA – Meralco is on a high after moving on verge of a return trip to the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals, but Allen Durham is reminding his team to stay grounded as the Bolts try to go for a sweep of their semifinal matchup against Star.

The Bolts overpowered the Hotshots, 98-74, in Game Two on Tuesday night to score back-to-back victories in the Final Four and drag their victims on the edge of elimination.

After turning to their defense in their come-from-behind 72-66 win in Game One, the Bolts banked on their offense this time to score the lopsided victory.

“You never expect to blow out a good team like Star,” Durham said. “In Game One, we didn’t shoot the ball well, and then we shot the ball pretty well, and that’s the type of basketball that we’re capable of playing.”

Durham, though, admitted the absence of Paul Lee most of the game due to a recurring knee injury factored in the Hotshots’ poor performance.

“For sure,” Durham said. “Paul Lee’s a great player. I hope he’s not hurt seriously and we’re just going to prepare for them if he plays or doesn’t play. We’re going to prepare for a good matchup on Thursday.

“We’re going to enjoy a little bit tonight,” he added. “(But) we can’t get too excited because we’re sure Star is going to come back and they’re fighting for their season, so we got to make sure we handle business on Thursday.”

Durham, who anchored the attack anew with 18 points – all in the first three quarters – along with 25 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks, though is eager to finish off the Hotshots to avoid the momentum shift.

“That’s (sweep) the plan…so we’ll see,” Durham said with a smile.

“Thursday’s going to be a battle; I already know it,” he was quick to add. “We just got to finish them off early.”
