YOU win some, you lose some.

Allein Maliksi admitted it was a gamble on his part to take an ill-advised three-pointer on a one-against-three break and the game on the line during the PBA Governors Cup game between Blackwater and Star on Friday night.

It was a good thing the shot went in and gave the Hotshots a 98-97 lead with 14.9 seconds left.

But even if he missed it, the gunner out of University of Santo Tomas said he was still willing to take the heat.

"Ganun talaga. Kung sablay, bad shot talaga e. Pero kung pumasok, thankful naman," he said of the play.

The Hotshots, however, failed to hang on and suffered a100-98 loss, their second straight in the season-ending conference that left them sharing the cellar with Phoenix.

Maliksi finished with a team-high 20 points, 12 of them in the payoff period when he almost singlehandedly rallied his team to a first victory in the season-ending conference.

He also had a chance to win it all for Star in the dying seconds and the Hotshots trailing 98-99. But his fadeaway shot was blocked by big man JP Erram.

"Medyo forced shot na rin. Medyo hirap na yung tira kaya di ko na natira ng maayos," said Maliksi, who was 4 of 6 from three point range. "Tsaka time pressure na rin."

The play was designed for him, Maliksi said, marking the first time his number was called for a potential game-winning play.

The next time it happens, he vows to make it better.

"Learning experience for me. Next time at least mag-grow ako as a leader para sa team ko," Maliksi stressed.
