Allado eager to write new chapter in career after serving out 'tweet' ban

    Jan 3, 2013

AFTER a long wait, Don Allado is back to savor a new lease on life.

The outspoken former De La Salle Green Archer who got into trouble for posting controversial tweets alleging game-fixing in the pro league is back, eager to write a new chapter in his career.

“I’m excited. I’m like a caged dog (finally set free),” the 12-year veteran told Spin.ph, a day before rejoining his Barako Bull team in practice for the first time since stirring controversy with his tweets late last season.

The tweets cost the 33-year-old forward a P500,000 fine and a one-conference ban which he has served out, making him eligible to play in the league in the Commissioner’s Cup.

“I am coming back and hopefully repackage myself as a player,” said Allado. His final tweet for the day spoke of happiness and relief at the end of the ban: “Finally wait is over, it’s time.”

Allado is also hoping for a change of fortune in 2013, having been born in the year of the snake which is seen as a good omen this year. “2013 is my year, I can taste my success,” he tweeted.

The 6-5 big man may have a spot waiting for him at Barako Bull after the team’s top frontliner, Rico Villanueva, suffered an ACL injury late in the Philippine Cup.

“He will be a good addition, especially ngayon na wala pa rin si Rico (Villanueva)”, said Barako Bull interim coach Bong Ramos.
