ALEX Cabagnot had just hit the biggest basket in San Miguel's 107-101 overtime victory over Rain or Shine on Friday night, but it's no big deal.
All in a day's work for the clutch guard.
“I mean, that’s why I’m on the floor, so I think I’ll be a hindrance (to our team) if I don’t do that for them,” said Cabagnot. “The team trusted me to do that (crucial shot) and I just have to take full responsibility for that.”
The Beermen won for the seventh straight game to improve to 8-1 overall, which wouldn't have been possible had Cabagnot not hit the clutch jumper to end regulation, 96-all.
Cabagnot, who has hit a long line of clutch baskets in his career, said he simply had to take matters into his own hands on a broken play.
“I knew I was gonna shoot it but I don’t know, I think coach had something drawn up pero the mix of the intensity and the certain things of the game, I just have to take that shot,” he said.
San Miguel has the inside track on a top two spot heading to the playoffs, but Cabagnot said the Beermen can't afford to let up in games against GlobalPort on January 21 in Lapu Lapu City and TNT Katropa on January 28 to end their elimination round campaign.
“We’ll just gonna try not to create bad habits in the last two games,” he said.
