IT’s going to be a win-win situation again for the San Miguel Corporation as sister squads San Miguel Beer and Barangay Ginebra face off in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals unfolding on Friday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

SMB star Arwind Santos assured that whatever the result of the best-of-seven series, the biggest winner will be SMC CEO Ramon S. Ang, who own both clubs, along with the Magnolia Hotshots.

“Gusto niyo naman ng panibagong hula ko?” Santos asked with a smile a couple of days after rightfully – yet controversially – predicting that Ginebra would emerge victorious in their semifinal series with Rain or Shine.

“Ito, ‘di ako magkakamali sa hula kong ito: Sigurado magiging masaya yung boss namin kahit sino manalo sa’ming dalawa.”

“Para safe,” he added with a laugh after the finals press conference on Tuesday at Sambokojin Eastwood.

Ginebra governor Alfrancis Chua would be rooting for the Gin Kings, but as concurrent SMC sports director, he’s staying on middle ground.

“Again, finals na naman, iyong dalawang SMC. For sure it’s gonna be a good fight because parehong palaban ito eh. Since before naman, wala akong kinakampihan eh,” Chua assured. “Kung sino manalo, 'yun ang maganda.”

“Pero ang gusto ko lang, ibigay nila lahat para sa fans, para sa mga nanonood na mga tao, matuwa naman, makita nila yung perang binayad nila sa ticket eh makita nilang lumalaban,” he added.

SMB governor Robert Non just expects a tough battle between the sister teams that will go the distance.

“As usual, it’s Ginebra-San Miguel, matinding labanan na naman, I wouldn’t be surprised if it reached Game Seven,” Non said.

“Siguro pagdating ng Game Seven we can increase it to Game Nine,” he added with a smile.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial butted in.

“Hindi, baka gawin nating race to 11,” the PBA chief said in jest.
