PBA vice-chairman Alfrancis Chua said he doesn't understand all the fuzz over the decision to institute a four-point shot for the league's coming 49th season.
Chua said the four-point line was introduced in order to bring a different flavor to the PBA game which, officials believe, will ultimately rekindle interest in the league.

The four-point line, from 27 feet out, was met with apprehensions from fans and even PBA coaches, but Chua said it’s the prerogative of the team whether to use it or not.
“When we decided, all of us na governors, walang humindi. Lahat kami, unanimous,” said Chua during the league’s pre-season press conference.
“Gusto namin ‘yung four-point shot na ‘yun. Now, iba-iba ang opinion. Ang daming nagsabi, ganito, bakit ganyan, bakit hindi sa amin sinabi.”
If coaches don't like it, then don't use it, said the league official.
“It’s only a line. Eh di wag n'yo gamitin. Linya lang ‘yun eh. Hindi naman sinabi na sa isang quarter, kailangan tumira kayo ng tatlong beses diyan. Wala naman ganun eh."
Despite the opposition, the Barangay Ginebra team governor is certain all PBA teams will use it especially during the latter moments of the game.
“Sa actual game, down by three, ewan ko kung hindi nila gagamitin ‘yun. Gagamitin ‘yan. Imagine mo, you are down by three, puwede ka pa manalo,” said Chua.

Chua said the PBA board of governors is only looking after the welfare of the league, and sees the four-point line as beneficial to the game.
“Sa amin, as governors, kasama si Commissioner, hindi naman kami magiimbento para pumangit ‘yung liga. Sa amin, ginagawa namin ito para gumanda ang liga, magkaroon ng, sinabi nga ni Chairman, entertainment,” said Chua.
“’Yung mga naiisip namin, this is all good for the league."
'Let's give it a chance'
Tignan muna natin kung anong mangyayari, baka gumanda. Baka ‘yung iba diyan, kung sino pa ang ayaw, baka sila pa ang gumamit ng gumamit,” he said.
“Personally, it’s only a line. You don’t want to use it, okay,” said Chua.
