THREE of the top six local four-point shooters in terms of percentage in the PBA last season played for Magnolia, namely Peter Alfaro, Jerrick Ahanmisi, and Paul Lee.

Alfaro led the league in shooting percentage from the second rainbow arc during his rookie year in the league's 49th season, hitting at a 57.1-percent clip after making 8 of his 14 attempts for the Hotshots.

Ahanmisi ranked fourth in four-point percentage with the now-Terrafirma player shooting 38.9 percent or 28-of-72 from the second arc.

Lee, on the other hand, made the most four-pointers last season , making 31 of 81 attempts for a 38.3-percent clip - sixth in percentage from that area.

In between Alfaro and Ahanmisi were Marcio Lassiter of San Miguel, at No. 2 with 50 percent (5-of-10), and Paolo Hernandez of Terrafirma, at No. 3 with 45.5 percent (4-of-11). Anton Asistio was No. 5 among locals with 38.5 percent (10-of-26).

With three locals inside the top six, it was no surprise that Magnolia ranked first in four-point field goal percentage among the 12 regular teams with 32.4 percent (83-of-256). Eastern is actually at No. 1 if the guest team is to be included after making 36.8 percent (7-of-19) from fours.

Even with Ahanmisi no longer with the team, the player that the Hotshots got from Terrafirma in return, Javi Gomez de Liano, also has the ability to make fours.

“So far, hindi pa namin masyado pinapraktis. Hindi ko masyadong inaano sa kanila. But some of the players here like Paul Lee, even Mark Barroca, Peter (Alfaro), even Javi (Gomez de Liaño), I can give them that shot, given the situation. But it’s not going to be our main weapon.”

“From time to time, why not? Situational. I’ll give it to them,” said Tenorio.
