PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa held a meeting with Alaska coach Alex Compton and guard Dondon Hontiveros after Game Two of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series to clarify his role in the commotion late in the first quarter.

Compton and Hontiveros said there were no further fines slapped on them, aside from the minimal fee for picking up respective technical fouls during the commotion.

Compton said he apologized to Narvasa, believing the technical foul he incurred was warranted as he entered the court during the fracas.

“I just said sorry,” Compton said. "I just wanted everyone to know that I didn’t want to do anything. I was just there to break everybody up."

“Our desires and intentions are the same,” he added. “We just want really good basketball in the PBA and just play.”

Still, Compton has to pay a fine for his technical foul.

"I hate paying fines, kuripot ako eh," he said with a smile.

Hontiveros, for his part, understood why Narvasa confronted him when he was trying to help Batang Pier forward Jay Washington up.

“Gusto ko sanang lapitan nun si Jaywash, but commissioner was telling me to go back to the bench,” he said. “Mamaya na lang daw.”

“I was insistent on really trying to go to Jaywash then nung nakita kong umalis na si Jaywash, I was about to tell commissioner kung bakit ko siya gusto puntahan, pero yun nga, gusto niya na pumunta ako sa bench to cool things off and mali ako bakit pumunta dun,” he added.

Hontiveros said Narvasa was just doing his job.

“He has the right para lang matigil and hindi rin unfair to the fans,” the Aces sniper said. “Kasi baka sa Game Three, kulang-kulang yung players (due to suspensions).”

“It’s his job to protect the league and the interest of the fans,” he added.
