IS something bothering Alaska starting point guard JVee Casio in this PBA Philippine Cup Finals series against San Miguel?

Although coach Alex Compton denied the former Gilas player is nursing any injuries, his statement when asked about the condition of Casio leaves more than meets the eye.

“JVee will be fine,” said Compton after being questioned on Casio’s second straight sub-par performance in the best-of-seven title series.

Asked if Casio is bothered by any injuries, Compton snapped back, “Not that I’m aware of.”

But he later apologized to members of the media for what he deemed are things not suited to be written at all.

“I had a very family approach to the team. I know you guys have jobs to do so I apologize,” said Compton, whose team lost Game Five Friday night, 93-88, to lose control of the series for the first time, 3-2.

“But sometimes there’s some stuff that’s family business, so I don’t always disclose everything. I hope you guys understand.”

For the second straight game in the finals, Casio was held scoreless after going 0-of-8 from the field, including 0-of-6 from three point range in 26 minutes of play in Game Five.

Casio has now missed his last 12 attempts in the series against Alaska - and 11 three-point tries in a row dating back to Game Three, according to Spin.ph columnist Fidel Mangonon III.

The gunner out of De La Salle also failed to score in Alaska’s 88-70 loss in Game Four where he was held to just 0-of-2 shooting from the field.
