CALVIN Abueva is going to be a game-time decision when Alaska resumes its PBA Governors Cup campaign Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Aces face TnT Katropa in the 4:15 p.m. curtain raiser and it remains to be seen if Abueva would finally be playing after his mysterious disappearance last week to personally tend to what he referred to as a "family matter.'
Coach Alex Compton is keeping his cards close to his chest ahead of the game against TnT.
"We will see," was his curt reply when asked by SPIN.ph on the issue Thursday.
But he did admit Abueva has been diligently attending Alaska's practices again after resurfacing on Monday and personally apologizing to the team for not showing up for a few days, and eventually, missing the Aces' game against the Star Hotshots last week.
The return of the player known as 'The Beast,' however, should be an added boost to Alaska's bid as the team has yet to show a win in three games so far in the season-ending meet.
The Aces actually have been winless in 11 consecutive games or a stretch of four months dating back to the Commissioner's Cup.
The game against TnT - if ever Abueva plays - will also be the last for the enigmatic forward before he leaves with Gilas Pilipinas to Beirut, Lebanon for the Fiba Asia Cup set next week.
