With his Alaska team out of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoff picture, Aces coach Alex Compton has now turned into a fan and looking forward to the Barangay Ginebra-TnT semifinals that begins this Friday.
Compton said he expects the best-of-five encounter between the Kings, the defending champions, and Katropa to be a ‘championship-level’ series.
“I know anybody can win. That’s going to be awesome,” said Compton after the Katropa bundled out the Aces in their do-or-die match for the last berth in the semis on Wednesday night, 104-93, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Although heartbroken following the loss, the Alaska coach said that wouldn’t make him miss the Ginebra-TnT match-up.
“I’m gonna watch that series because the talent level on those teams, the way that those guys are playing, it’s tremendous,” said the outspoken Compton.
“I’m an Alaska guy but all the PBA fans should watch that TnT-Ginebra series. That’s going to be fun. Seriously for the fans, that's an incredible series to watch."
It will be the first semifinal series between the Kings and Katropa since Ginebra ousted TnT in four games during the 2017 Governors Cup.
