ALEX Cabagnot flashed a big smile when he came face-to-face with reporters shortly after San Miguel hacked out a come-from-behind 111-102 win over TnT Katropa in Game Five of the PBA Commissioner's Cup finals on Firday.
And to think barely an hour before, the veteran guard could hardly grin as the Beermen trailed by 15 points at the half.
But Cabagnot was not about to let his team down. He conspired with Arwind Santos, Charles Rhodes, and Marcio Lassiter in the second half to turn things around and clinch the win that put the Beermen on the verge of claiming the championship of the mid-season conference that's been elusive to them for the last 16 years.
The heady playmaker, who finished with a game-high 28 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, said the win was definitely a huge confidence-booster for the team, which tries to close out the series on Sunday.
"Kailangan namin 'to kasi may game pa kami on Sunday. We're gonna try to close them out on Sunday," he said.
Asked what needs to be addressed come Game Six, Cabagnot said there's a lot of factors to point out.
"There's a lot. There's a lot. I can't pinpoint one thing that we have to do or what we can do," he said.
"There's a lot of cognitive things from us, and it's a cumulative effort from all of us also. It’s just not that, you 'know, stop this person or this person. We have to do it as a team and look at our game plan."
Game Six is at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
