ALEX Cabagnot is looking to dig deep inside San Miguel Beer’s vast well of championship experience as it aims to pull off another huge comeback, this time in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals against Rain or Shine.
The SMB star playmaker led his team’s late rally in Game Two, capping it with back-to-back three-pointers that pulled the Beermen to within two points in the last 35 seconds – a comeback that fell short as they absorbed a 98-96 setback to move on the verge of getting swept in the best-of-five series.
“I’m just fortunate and God-willing it’s a best of five, so we still have a game on Thursday,” said Cabagnot, who scored nine of his 13 points in the final frame. “Sana matupad yung mga prayers namin tonight.”
The Beermen are no strangers in this situation as they’re just coming off a conference where they authored the greatest comeback in league history, overhauling a three-game deficit against Alaska to rule the Philippine Cup.
“We just have to use that (past comebacks) as a reference,” Cabagnot said. “Mga experience naman na ganun ay something you could cherish and you could use in times like this.”
“We got to go look at video and analyze (what went wrong),” he added. “I might say stuff that’s wrong because I haven’t seen the video (yet), kasi it’s different when you see the video and different when you’re playing. Hopefully, we can make some adjustments that could pull off a game on Thursday.”
