Converge on Thursday made its first move since Ayo was hired as head coach of the team, making a bid to acquire Aljun Melecio and Kris Porter in a trade with Phoenix Super LPG for Ben Adamos and Kurt Lojera.
Both camps are still waiting for the formal approval of the PBA.
The impending trade set the stage for Melecio's reunion with Ayo, his former head coach at La Salle in the UAAP.
The Green Archers won the 2016 UAAP crown in Ayo’s first season with the squad, with Melecio being named the Rookie of the Year following an impressive high school career with De La Salle-Zobel.
Melecio is set to move to a new team during his sophomore season after being drafted by Phoenix 19th overall in the Season 46 Draft.
