BARELY 24 hours after winning an NCAA championship, Kevin Racal has just become a certified millionaire.
The Letran star was promptly signed by Alaska to a two-year contract, shortly after the Aces’ Smartbro-PBA Philippine Cup game against Blackwater on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Team manager Dickie Bachmann confirmed the signing was held at the Alaska dugout as the 24-year-old Racal rushed to the playing venue after attending a school activity with the Knights.
Terms of the deal though weren't made available.
Bachmann said he watched the deciding Game Three of the NCAA finals between Letran and San Beda, which the Knights won in overtime, 85-82, and came away impressed with Racal.
The 24-year-old forward finished with 23 points and banged two crucial three-pointers in the fourth period.
“He can definitely help,” said Bachmann. “He has a very good game (in the finals).”
Coach Alex Compton said Racal has yet to practice with the team.
“Not yet (practiced) because we have a game (today). He came a couple of times (in practice), but I told him to finish his college first and commit to us when your college is done,” added Compton.
