ALASKA and NLEX collide for the eighth and final spot in the quarterfinals in a playoff game on Friday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Aces and the Road Warriors square off at 7 p.m. with the two teams looking to extend their conference.
The winner will be facing top-seed Phoenix Pulse in the quarterfinals with the Fuel Masters holding a twice-to-beat advantage.
Both teams struggled at the close of the eliminations and finished with a 4-7 record to force a playoff match for the eighth seed.
The Aces lost five of their last six games but its hopes alive for a quarterfinal spot after NLEX lost to Magnolia, 102-74, last Wednesday.
“We’re looking at a different perspective and a second lease on life,” said Alaska coach Alex Compton, who was at ringside when NLEX lost to Magnolia.
The Road Warriors slipped to a playoff match for the eighth spot after losing two in a row including that lopsided loss to the Hotshots.
NLEX coach Yeng Guiao, however, remained positive.
“May pag-asa pa rin naman kami. As long as we have a chance to make the next round, that’s still okay with me,” said Guiao.
