ALASKA opened the PBA Commissioner’s Cup with a 111-98 win over Columbian on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Chris Daniels had 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Chris Banchero had 20 points for the Aces to start off the conference on a high note.

Simon Enciso added 19 points and eight assists for the Aces, who led by as many as 20 points in the contest.

The Aces also outscored the Dyip, 34-13, in the third quarter to begin their pullaway in the game.

“We have a really good group of guys. We’ve talk about holding each other accountable. There was just fundamental stuff that we did wrong,” said Alaska coach Alex Compton.

“I didn’t do anything magical. They just came out of the third quarter and they decided to buckle down. I’m proud of their third quarter. That was really good,” said Compton.

Kyle Barone had 30 points and 22 rebounds, while CJ Perez had 19 points and six rebounds for the Dyip, who were unable to maintain their 54-48 halftime lead.
