IT’S the past meeting the present.
Alaska veteran Eric Menk has broached the idea of a one-off exhibition match between the Young Once and the Young Ones and has so far been receiving encouraging response online.
Menk, the former PBA MVP, posted on his official Twitter account@EMenk30 a poll asking if anyone would be interested to see a match pitting current stars against the league's senior citizens.
“Who would like to see a Young ONCE vs. Young ONES game?” Menk tweeted.
At posting time, 90 percent of the respondents voted to make it happen.
The idea has also quickly caught on among the league's over-35 set, including Menk’s close buddy Asi Taulava, Jimmy Alapag, Danny Seigle, Dondon Hontiveros, Jayjay Helterbrand, and Peter June Simon.
Even Senator Sonny Angara, a well-known basketball buff, has joined the fun, saying medical insurance should be required for the game, drawing laughs from Seigle and Co.
But come to think of it, such a game may not be a bad idea afterall, considering the league is set to hold its long-delayed All-Star break next month in Manila.
Who knows? Considering the boring All-Star formats, this game may even eclipse the main offering.
So how about it?
