ALASKA needs to sweep all of its games in order to clinch a quarterfinal spot in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup, and for it to happen, they have to win on back-to-back dates.
Alaska playoff scenarios
Now at 3-6, the Aces will play another week with consecutive games with the Aces facing San Miguel on Wednesday and NorthPort on Thursday at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
This will be the second time that Alaska will play in games on consecutive days. Last week following its return to the floor, the Aces played three consecutive days starting last Friday, ending up with a 1-2 record following a win against Barangay Ginebra and defeats against TNT and Terrafirma.
The resumption of its campaign came after Alaska was not included in the schedule of the second week of the PBA restart due to the league’s health and safety protocols.
This week will be the same scenario for Alaska, but with the games with so much importance to their quarterfinal hopes.
A climb to 5-6 will avoid Alaska of any complications as the Aces will go up to a maximum of seventh place at the elimination round.
A win out of the two games, however, won’t cut it for Alaska as the Aces will be out of contention even in a share of eighth place with teams such as Barangay Ginebra, Phoenix Super LPG, and Terrafirma at 4-7 due to an inferior quotient among those squads.
It will be tough games for Alaska since San Miguel and NorthPort are also looking to improve on their respective placings.
The Beermen are looking to seal their place at No. 4 with a win over the Aces on Wednesday. and enter the quarterfinals on a high note after they lost to Magnolia on Sunday.
The Batang Pier, meanwhile, are also in need of a win as they can still fall to a playoff for the No. 8 spot if they suffer a defeat over the Aces on Thursday.
